Mien gott, fry cooking is stressful the first time around. :o Nothing says "AAAAAAAAAH! D:" like a some hot oil spitting up to hit you in the hands or face. No burns, though! So that was a success, even if the kitchen looks like a war zone.
And also, I made edible chicken lips from scratch, so yay! They were also all devoured without mercy within the first twenty minutes that I took them to the potluck. (AND, the host asked me for the recipe!) The "Thank God It's Over" party for NaNo was a huge success; my jaw is hurting a little from laughing so hard, but I can't complain.
November was a very good month, and I'm a little sad it's over now. On the other hand, December looks like it has a lot of good, fun things in store. :D

So, this evening at the Wild Boar Coffee Shop, thanks to the combined efforts of several word wars and fellow NaNo participants, I hit 50k! There was much rejoicing, celebrating, and I even played the Final Fantasy VII victory fanfare full blast on my computer speakers when I hit that magical number.
I got through my outline just fine, (and found that having one before wading into NaNo actually REALLY helped) and while I won't be looking at what I wrote for several months at least, I think there's some salvageable material in there.
Yay, me. :3
Time to start writing DDS ficlets, then.

HAH! 25,327 WORDS, AND SEVERAL DAYS BEFORE THE DEADLINE!
THERE WILL BE NO PORN ON MY END, IF I'VE GOT ANY SAY IN IT! >:D
...So why not celebrate with a meme, and see if I can actually fill one out successfully this time?
Name a fandom and I'll tell you 3 pairings I love, 2 pairings I consider shipping, and 1 pairing I hate.

Day 1 of NaNoWriMo is just about done. And from 12:00 AM to around 5:00 PM I have:
-Attended 2 write-ins and used that extra hour of writing to the best of my ability.
-Chatted it up with fellow participants about plot, characters, favorite genres, and the stupid things our cats do.
-Sacked Pharamond.
-Killed a king. (As it turned out today at the second write-in, everyone else at the table I was writing at was also working on ways to topple monarchies. We were the regicide table!)
-Taken an army and turned them into near broken refugees.
-Turned Fredegund into a sobbing wreck. (Poor girl!)
-Made Chrodechild more emo then she has any right to be. (Even poorer girl! I keep telling myself that this is why next year is for editing.)
-Wrote 5,000 words today, grinding my previous record for Day 1 into the dirt.
...A good start, all things considered. :D

I'm spending my Halloween shooting things, carving pumpkins, going to a NaNo party dressed as 1920s gangster, and writing about regicide at midnight! :D

There's about a foot of snow outside now, and our Halloween blizzard has brought something other then just snow into the backyard where I'm dog sitting. At about 3:50 this afternoon, me and the dogs watched as two white tailed deer (both bucks) walked through the snows and nibbled on some of the plants.
...Unless they were mule deer. I was a bit too busy going "OMG DEER :D!" to note as much as I should've. I really liked watching them move, as well; how they'd always walk a few steps, eat, and then look up and glance around before repeating.
That said, I hope those deer get back into the foothills okay; the house is right next to a wildlife park, which is where they probably came from, and they might need to get across a road to get back.

Okay, THERE'S that October blizzard I was wondering about. Around five inches of snow so far, with an average of another inch falling each hour and counting...
At least it looks really pretty, even if it's closing down roads and making driving very difficult. We started last night with rain at around 5:30, which then turned into freezing rain at about 7:00. It then started snowing about half an hour after that, and has just been accumulating since then. Schools are getting closed, as are most business. (This has not kept a few well bundled children from sneaking outside with their sleds, which I honestly can't blame them for. This looks like really good snow for sledding.)
I'll need to pick my way back to the house I'm dog sitting at, eventually; I'll probably load up on food stuffs as well, just in case the snow gets REALLY bad.

October 8th, and we have our first snow of the fall/winter season. So far the flakes aren't sticking to anything but the trees, and it looks like it will be mild, but I won't leave out any remaining 1% freak chances. In 1991 and 1997 we had freak blizzards and arctic blasts in October, so who knows?
Hopefully there won't be any trees or branches snapping through power lines, but if there are, you'll know why I've suddenly dropped off the face of the internet.

Just got this comic as a belated birthday present, and read it, beginning to end, all in one go.
I won't lie, at the end I cried like a pansy. But it's an amazing work, and definitely fits the "indie comic" label perfectly. I'd definitely recommend it to a lot of my f-list. I'll probably be re-reading it and analyzing how it tells it's story several times, but right now I'm content with saying that it is VERY good.
And, get back to work. Have a lot of 3D models to finish for some new contract work, and I'm happy to have a bit of paid work as well. :3

So, I've got a part time job where I make vegetable baskets for delivery, over on a locally owned dairy farm. It's not what you'd call skilled work, but it's still fulfilling (as a lot of work that involves food and providing nourishment is, I've found) and isn't boring either.
I got my first paycheck for it today. And once taxes had taken their nibbles out of it, I found myself with, I kid you all not,
108 dollars.
I laughed for a good five minutes at that, and it still makes me grin a bit.

...Oh, screw you Blizzard. I JUST GOT A PART TIME JOB, I DON'T NEED YOU TEMPTING ME AWAY FROM MY LITTLE REMAINING FREE TIME AND NEWLY EARNED MONIES. Not even with Worgen. ):< Not even.
That said, I would still seriously consider selling a kidney if it would get me a full time job in Blizzard. I just loathe them for producing so many temptations.

...Gorammit. I finish what feels like a highly successful Summer Plot. (Roughly 20 players, and nearly 2,600 posts in 3 weeks and 3 days!) I get the final logs ready for posting, as well as a closing post, with no problem.
And what's the first thing that I want to do after all this?
...Play or RP Digital Devil Saga. GORAMMIT, BRAIN AND CREATIVE IMPULSES. Why you gotta be so weird?

...Ohhhh, I am so very stoked to have a copy of this movie. I loved watching it in the theater, and it's honestly been on my brain a LOT since seeing it; something about it appealed on a lot of different levels. And it was really damn pretty, too.
I'm going to watch it so very many times, probably up until my dreams of it (...And I've had several. I shouldn't lie about that.) turn towards a more nightmarish beat. Which is probably a bit odd, that the actual dreams I've had of this movie are more inspirational then "...I never want to sleep again."
I'm rambling now. But YAAAAAAAAY! Coraline DVD, GET!

We had the most amazing thunderstorm last night. Lots of hail and heavy rain at first (meaning that I needed to rush out with towels to cover the flowers and avoid getting hit by hailstones.) but the really interesting/neat stuff happened about a minute in.
That's when we started getting sheet lightning. On an average of one lightning bolt per second, or more. I don't know if I can accurately describe just how cool this looked; it was like the storm clouds had a pulse. I actually went and disconnected my laptop, and moved it into the sun room for a better effect and view. (I also feel like I should have been doing something better with the Dark And Stormy Night mood then writing Summer Dark!Plot RP stuff, but ah well.)
Very cool evening. :3

Ask me my fannish Top Five [Whatevers]. Any top fives. Doesn't matter what, really! And I will answer them all in a new post. Probably with pictures if possible.
It might take a little while to get back on some of these replies, I admit; trail maintenance in July can really take it out of you. x.x

Took the scooter downtown with the intent of getting something sweet from the Kilwin's store down there, and wound up staying for three extra hours. Turns out that this weekend was when the car festival was, where people bring in restored or modified cars to show off. There was a nice live band, LOTS of dogs, food, and CORGIS!
I found two down by the fountain, where the steps ringing said fountain descend into a pool. The third step is underwater, and the water level goes about up to corgi belly height. There are few things cuter then seeing two corgis running back and forth in the water. The corgis were pet, a hot dog was eaten, (as well as some cotton candy, because I couldn't even remember the last time I had that treat) and cars were viewed. I still can't decide whether my favorite is the 1936 Chevy Sedan, or the 1958 Impala.
After the treats, getting an apple from Kilwin's did seem a bit like overkill...Which didn't keep me from getting one anyway, after realizing I'm not obligated to have it today, and it would easily save until tomorrow after the hike. And when I was walking back to my scooter with the apple, I was able to see and pet a THIRD corgi.
The ride back was also nice. I made it back just before the sky was overcast, and saw a falcon while riding, and stopped to let a lady and her kid (both on bikes) through. The kid gave me the most adorable 'thank you' thumbs up as he rode past, which just had me laughing all the way back to the garage.
So yeah. :3
